Simple Healthy Recipes

Sometimes it can be cumbersome to always prepare healthful recipes, especially when you have little time or are in a hurry after work, there are a variety of healthy recipes that you can create very simply, here are some of them.

Delicious Apple sauce
Almost all kids enjoy applesauce and applesauce is deceptively easy to prepare and very delicious. All you need are 2 red apples, two teaspoons of sugar (brown sugar is fine), a couple of tablespoons of lemon and some cinnamon. Making applesauce is easy, just put your two red apples in a food processor, tossing out the core first. Process the apples and once they become chopped up into small pieces put them in a bowl; add your sugar, lemon juice and finally a few pinches of cinnamon. Voila, you have fresh and all natural apple sauce.

Fruit and Yogurt Parfaits
This is a recipe that most everyone will love. Fruit and Yogurt Parfaits are very painless to prepare and you can create numerous types of parfaits just by selecting different varieties of fruits. For this recipe you can begin with about 8 ounces of yogurt, some chopped up strawberries and some fresh granola. Just mix the yogurt and strawberries together and add the granola to the top. You can simply improvise with this recipe, mixing in any type of fruits you like. In addition to adding granola, you can choose to add your favorite cereal, nuts, a few drops of chocolate or a gummy bear or two. This recipe takes only a second to make and will put a smile on all your little ones' faces.

Mashed Potatoes
Mashed potatoes are tasty, fun to eat, and simple to prepare. They are also very healthy. You just need potatoes, some fresh milk, and a little butter. One of the ways to spruce up your mashed potatoes for little ones is to add a little food coloring, especially for the holidays. For instance, many people during St. Patrick’s Day make green mashed potatoes. For Halloween, you can mix in orange food coloring, etc. While you can simply spruce up mashed potatoes, this is one food that your kids will love because it tastes awesome. It is important to note that while you can buy mashed potato flakes, it is always better to use fresh potatoes.

French Toast
Are you seeking a healthy breakfast treat? French toast is it! You can prepare French Toast very simply, just take white bread, or almost any variety of bread and place it into a mixture of fresh milk and eggs that have been slightly beaten. Now cook it in a frying pan with either a drop of butter or cooking spray and voila, you have French Toast. Instead of using high sugar syrups or fatty butter, choose instead to sprinkle yummy powdered sugar. Many parents use fresh fruits as well, such as strawberries and raspberries to top off their creation.

Enjoy Naturally Sweet Foods

One way for your kids to enjoy healthy snacks is to get them started on naturally sweet foods. Since most kids crave sweets for snacks, naturally sweet foods such as fruits are perfect. Let them enjoy a banana, orange, apple, cherries, strawberries and other berries whenever they have a sweet tooth. You can mix in yogurt or even make a fruit smoothie for them with some milk and a drop of chocolate or other natural flavors.

Another great way for your children to enjoy healthy snacks is to give them fresh nuts. Children love peanuts, walnuts, sunflower seeds, almonds, etc. One of the things to recognize about children is that if they try enough types of natural and healthy snacks, they will find one that they enjoy. The problem is that many times parents give up trying to find the snacks that their kids like and settle for popular junk foods instead.

When choosing a healthy snack, what you want to stay away from are products with boatloads of sugars, unneeded preservatives and empty calories. While most kids will fight you tooth and nail if they have to eat wheat germ and tofu, many kids will be more than happy to eat snacks if they have a sweet taste and are presented in the right way.

Other healthy snacks that many children like are dry cereals. For instance, there are many breakfast cereals that are made from corn, wheat, bran and include nuts and honey. These cereals when eaten during breakfast usually include milk; however, you can easily serve them dry to your children. One of the most common dry cereals which are healthy and nutritious for your child at almost any age is Cheerios. Cheerios is lightly sweetened and delicious either moistened with milk or dry. If your child is looking for a delicious treat for lunch or to take a long for camp or little league, dry cereal is not only nutritious, but delicious.

For those children that are terribly finicky and only want junk food, one strategy to use in order to get your child to eat nutritious snacks is to buy prepared natural snacks. Today, there are tons of packaged snacks that might look like junk food, but are healthy and nutritious for your child. They include certain fruit roll ups, string cheese and granola bars. Many of these snacks resemble junk food, but are actually made from natural ingredients and include relatively little sugar and empty calories.

Healthy Food for Kids

Healthy eating is important for proper growth in kids. One of the things that parents spend much time thinking about is creating and preparing healthful recipes for their little ones. Parents want to give their children a variety of nutrient-enriched food and drinks to help them to grow stronger and healthier.

Usually, life patterns are set in childhood and early puberty. Following a healthy diet routine and using healthy recipes will give them the benefit of enjoying a strong body for the rest of their adult lives.

Healthy food for children can be prepared by knowing facts about the food we eat. There is high-protein, high-fiber food that works for kids, and nutrient-empty, processed junk food that works against them. Studies show that on average, kids receive around thirty-eight percent of their daily calories from fats. The bad fat is responsible for creating free radicals in the body, which harm our good cells—including the brain cells. This fat negatively contributes towards obesity, heart disease, allergies, and other harmful conditions.

Sensible diets make sure that your kids are well, prevent the risk of developing dangerous diseases,
and keep the foundation for solid mental as well as physical health. Junk food and unhealthy food can leave your child open to food hazards and infection, especially during rapid growth periods.

Today, more than ever kids should be eating healthier. For millions of kids in the world eating junk food and not being active enough has contributed to obesity and many children being above normal weight. Not only is it important to teach your child which snacks they should eat, but educating them during the early, formidable years may help them sidestep obesity and becoming overweight in the future when they are adults.
